ILAN ESHKERI

2007 was certainly not composer Ilan Eshkeri's first year on the film music scene.  Having worked on previous projects such as LAYER CAKE (2004) and RING OF THE NIBELUNGS (2004), Eshkeri made early waves in 2007 with his work for HANNIBAL RISING.  Still, it would be his score for STARDUST (which has also garnered the SURPRISE OF THE YEAR award), that got the attention of the film music community.  His score for the off-beat, fantasy film was perhaps "the" stand-out effort of early 2007 and has garnered him much praise from reviewers and aficionados alike.  In past years, the winner of the BREAKOUT COMPOSER of year generally has two or more stand-out scores, but its safe to say that ILAN ESHKERI's exceptional work for STARDUST was enough to bring him this year's Cue Award.
